SUMMARY:Parkland Students - Road To Change Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis summer\, the students of March For Our Lives are making stops across America to get young people educated\, registered\, and motivated to vote. We call it March For Our Lives: Road to Change. \nWhen people across the country rallied at the March For Our Lives just over 2 months ago\, we showed our politicians that we refuse to accept gun violence as an unsolvable issue. Now it’s time to turn our energy into action. \nThe Road to Change kicks off on Friday\, June 15 in Chicago\, where we’ll be joining the Peace March\, led by students from St. Sabina Academy. You can RSVP for that event here: \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1700601046685152/ \nThe next stop is in Naperville at the DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church on Saturday\, June 16th at 6pm. We will have a Town Hall as well as registrars to get our young people registered to vote. More things are in the works & we will update the event as they are confirmed. You must register at the Eventbrite link to attend as we have a maximum occupancy of 300. \nFrom there we are traveling from city to city\, with more than 50 planned stops in over 20 states including Iowa\, Texas\, California\, South Carolina\, and Connecticut. We’ll also hold a separate Florida tour with more than 25 stops\, visiting every congressional district. \nWe’re going to places where the NRA has bought and paid for politicians who refuse to take simple steps to save our lives — and we’ll be visiting a number of communities that have been affected by gun violence to meet fellow survivors and use our voices to amplify theirs. \nAt each stop\, we’ll register young people to vote and educate them on the reforms we need to save lives\, and whether their local candidates and elected officials support these reforms or support the NRA. \nIf you would like to donate to the Parkland students you can do so at this link: \nhttps://marchforourlives.com/donate/ \nFor more information about the Road to Change\, text CHANGE to 977-79.

SUMMARY:Canvass for Laura Ellman for State Senate
DESCRIPTION:We’ve got ourselves a critical election season\, and many strong local Democratic candidates to support. We need new voices\, like Laura Ellman for State Senate District 21\, to rebuild integrity\, accountability\, and solutions-driven policy in our state assembly and move Illinois forward. The best way to get involved and built momentum is to is by talking to voters face-to-face in your neighborhoods! There are a couple opportunities to help below.\n\n\n\n1) Join our Weekend Canvass Team!\nLaura has been hard at work talking to voters about the issues we all care about\, and we are looking for volunteers to have conversations with voters about the issues we all care about. We are canvassing THIS WEEKEND with Laura and Val Montgomery\, running for State House District 41! No experience necessary – we’ll provide training\, materials and a walk buddy. This is the best way to make the biggest impact.\n\nRead more and sign up for a “shift” here! Can’t make it this weekend? Fill out the form to stay in the loop for future canvasses!\n\nWe’ll be canvassing on Saturday 10AM-12PM\, 12:30-3:30PM\, and 4-7PM\, and on Sunday 1:30-4:30PM.\nWe will meet at the Starbucks at 1979 McDowell Rd #113\, Naperville\, IL 60563\n\n2) Host a “coffee” or house party! Laura loves getting the chance to meet people and have more in-depth conversations. Hosting a house party this summer or fall is a great way to build momentum and help your friends and neighbors get to know her. Email Campaign Manager Meghan atmeghan@ellmanforillinois.com to get started.\n\n3) Write a letter to the editor responding to a current event in a local paper highlighting your support for Laura. With things in Springfield moving quickly\, this is a great way to connect people to the campaign and the issues. Email Campaign Manager Meghan at meghan@ellmanforillinois.com to get started.

SUMMARY:Film Screening to Ban Fracking
DESCRIPTION:Food & Water Watch is hosting a film screening for To the Ends of the Earth at 7:15pm on Friday\, April 13th at the DuPage Universalist Unitarian Church at 1828 Old Naperville Road. \nTo the Ends of the Earth follows concerned citizens living at the frontiers of extreme oil and gas extraction. They call for human ingenuity to rebuild society at the end of the fossil fuel era. As the call for a fracking ban and renewable energy takes off in Illinois\, this documentary is more timely than ever in our state. A just transition to 100% renewable energy is necessary to ensure the health and survival of our planet. \nIllinois can contribute to this transition and lead the clean energy revolution in the Midwest. \nMore information on the Facebook event here and the RSVP page here.

SUMMARY:Election Night Watch Party
DESCRIPTION:From Bob Peickert\, DPDC chair: \n  \nThe Democratic Party of DuPage County would like to invite you to an Election Night Watch Party – Unity DuPage on March 20 at Mullens Bar and Grill – 3080 Warrenville Rd.\, – Lisle beginning at 7:00 and running through the election results. \n\nThe DPDC has never been more unified in our desire to elect Democrats at every level of government. We know that\, given the contested races\, some candidates will not be on the ballot in November. But that will not mean that those candidates will go away. I believe all of the candidates in contested races will support those who survive the primary. We want to make sure that we get Democrats elected.\n\nThis is the best and most comprehensive groups of candidates we have ever had in DuPage. Given the surge from November 2017\, we are positioned to do well in November of 2018. The number of candidates for precinct committeepersons reached the highest level ever for the DPDC\, 310.  This number will exceed 400 when PCs can be appointed. We are ready to work to get our voters to the polls.\n\n\nAnd remember to sign up for the Gala and hear San Juan Mayor Carmen Cruz. We will also be raising money for Puerto Rico and a charity created by the Mayor – Somebody Help Us.\n\nPlease rsvp to me if you will be there on March 20. We expect over 100 but need to give them an approximate count. We will provide some appetizers and there will be a cash bar.\n\nThanks\nBob
