SUMMARY:Democratic Township Candidate Forum
DESCRIPTION:CHANGE OF VENUE\nWestmont Public Library\n428 N. Cass\nWestmont\, IL\n  \nThis is our first chance since November 8 to start rebuilding our democratically-elected bodies from the ground up.  And we could contribute to adding an unprecedented number of Democratic faces to the township governments in our county:  there currently is a total of ONE elected Dem township official in the entire county. \nHear from Democratic candidates who are running for the Township boards in Downers Grove\, Naperville\, Lisle and Milton Townships\, and learn how you can help in advance of the April 4 election. Local government is important in our day-to-day lives\, but this is also about more than that. It is about building strength for Democrats and progressives from the grassroots level. This President and this Congress did not occur in a vacuum. They have roots in the right wing energy that was sparked by President Obama’s election\, and that has changed the landscape of our democracy from the ground up over the last nine years. We have an opportunity right now to start fixing that\, and to send a message by adding some unprecedented BLUE to our red townships and county. \nHosted by Indivisible IL 6th. \nMore information.

SUMMARY:Interfaith rally - Islamic Center of Naperville
DESCRIPTION:CIOGC will join religious leaders from Protected by Faith this Sunday\, February 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Islamic Center of Naperville (ICN)\, for an interfaith vigil to urge for the protection of immigrants and refugees. Faith leaders will stand in solidarity with immigrants and Muslim families in our communities who are frightened\, feel marginalized\, or disrespected. This comes in the wake of President Donald Trump’s latest remarks to roll out a new executive order that will ban immigrants and refugees from seven Muslim-majority countries as well as raids and deportations that are tearing families apart. CIOGC highly encourages our community to attend this important event! \nClick here for more details.

SUMMARY:Save the ACA with Progressives of Kane County
DESCRIPTION:A message from Bernie Sanders…\n  \nThese are tough times. The future of our country and planet are at stake. Our job: Fight Back. \nDonald Trump and his Republican friends thought it was going to be easy. They would get to Washington and ram through their agenda\, taking health care away from 30 million Americans\, privatizing Medicare\, and defunding Planned Parenthood while giving huge tax cuts to their millionaire and billionaire friends. \nTheir plans have begun to unravel\, but only because of the tremendous levels of grassroots actions we’ve witnessed — town halls overflowing with constituents\, rallies across the country\, and of course the unprecedented outpouring of activism during the Women’s March. \nWe cannot stop. On Saturday\, February 25th\, volunteer-led rallies will be held outside of elected representative offices across the U.S. It is up to YOU to ensure that your Representatives and Senators know the American people won’t sit idly by as Congress sells out working class America. We fully expect our elected officials to do their jobs and represent the needs of the people they were elected to serve\, not just the billionaire class. \nPlease join me and thousands of Americans this Saturday to say “enough is enough” by attending a rally to defend healthcare as a right in your community. \nSave the ACA with Progressives of Kane County:\nSaturday\, February 25 in St. Charles (Compton Hills)\, IL \n10:00 am CST \n\nAll across the country\, people are speaking out not only to keep the Affordable Care Act\, but to expand it. At a time when millions of Americans do not have health care\, we should be working to expand coverage and move towards a Medicare for All system\, not throw millions off of the health insurance they currently have. The Republican plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act would be devastating – 30 million Americans thrown off health insurance\, with many more denied care for pre-existing conditions and unable to afford their premiums and prescription drugs. In the wealthiest nation in the history of the world\, we must understand that health care is a right\, not a privilege. \nMake your voice heard. Attend a rally on Saturday and let your elected representatives know you expect them to protect Medicare\, Medicaid\, Social Security and health care as a right. \nWe’re in this fight together\, and it’s only through a mass movement that we’re going to be able to prevent the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and 30 million Americans losing lifesaving coverage. Thank you for being a part of the political revolution. \nIn solidarity\, \nBernie Sanders \n  \nClick here for more information.

SUMMARY:Special Educational Event - CyberBullying

SUMMARY:NTDO MEET\, GREET & GET OFF YOUR SEAT\, Part II
DESCRIPTION:It’s time for the next Meet and Greet with fellow Democrats from Aurora\, Naperville\, and surrounding communities. \nFor many Americans\, President Trump’s recent executive actions and memorandums on repealing Obamacare\, halting funding to Planned Parenthood\, fast-tracking approval of the Keystone XL pipeline\, construction of “the wall” on our border with Mexico\, cutting federal funding to “sanctuary cities”\, and ban on Muslim immigrants and refugees has us concerned and angry.  On Wednesday\, February 8th come meet members of the Naperville Township Democratic Party (serving portions of Aurora\, Naperville and Warrenville) and learn about how you can get involved with your local Democratic Party and put your interests and hobbies to use to make a difference today. \nMost of all\, the Democratic Party wants to hear your opinions and ideas. \nMeet with other like-minded Democrats in a friendly atmosphere with good food and drinks. \nI hope you will join us on February 8th\, drop in at anytime between 6pm – 8pm. \nThis time we’ll meet at Gemato’s on Ogden Ave. in Naperville. \nSee below for directions and information. \nJoin us on Meetup and let us know that you’re coming!\n\n \n
