Even in the midst of crisis, she listens to people. And she keeps her cool,\u201d Obama said of Clinton earlier. \u201cAnd no matter how much people try to knock her down, she never, ever quits. That is the Hillary I know.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It has been a great week to be a Democrat this week. \u00a0We were privileged to hear from our leaders and from many other strong and passionate voices. \u00a0And they gave us a very long list of solid reasons to support our party.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0have all heard many of those voices before and thus it was not at all surprising to hear eloquent, strong, moving and convincing arguments from Barack<\/a> and Michelle<\/a> Obama, from Hillary<\/a> and Bill<\/a> and Chelsea<\/a> Clinton, from Joe Biden<\/a> and Tim Kaine<\/a>. \u00a0Bernie Sanders<\/a> was powerful and passionate in his support for the ticket. \u00a0We got surprising and\u00a0welcome support from Michael Bloomberg<\/a>. \u00a0Cory Booker<\/a>\u00a0and Elizabeth Warren<\/a> got us all out of our seats. \u00a0Who else am I forgetting?<\/p>\n

But I have to say that the speech my wife and I found probably the most moving and surprising (because his is an unfamiliar voice) was last night’s speech from Khizr\u00a0Khan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Khan’s son, Humayun, was a captain in the U.S. Army. When a vehicle packed with explosives approached his compound in Iraq in 2004, he instructed his men to seek cover as he ran toward it<\/a>. The car exploded, killing Khan instantly. He was awarded the Bronze Star posthumously.\u00a0– from a WaPo Story here<\/a><\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

To see and hear this patriotic American Muslim talk about his son’s sacrifice was a moving contrast to the kinds of things we hear from other quarters. \u00a0If you missed it, have a listen. \u00a0It’s so worth your attention for 7 minutes.
