The NTDO has offered candidates<\/a> in the\u00a0April 9 Municipal Elections<\/a>\u00a0an opportunity to address our readership. \u00a0Max Bochmann, candidate for Naperville Township Trustee, offers these words:<\/p>\n

\"\"My name is Max Bochmann and I\u2019m one of four Democratic candidates for the four open positions of Naperville Township Trustee. I\u2019ve been a Naperville homeowner since 1971 and have recently retired from District 203 schools after 38 years. I believe I\u2019ve had more, and better training around the trustee role, than any of our competition. I served on the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund for eleven years, and took full advantage of their allowed training opportunities, which later in my tenure became a statutory requirement. The venues included the International Foundation, the Government Finance Officers Association, Stanford University, and Northwestern University, and the subjects included fiduciary responsibility, board process, ethics, strategic planning, legal, actuarial science, portfolio construction, and the Open Meetings Act. I\u2019m eager to return to a public board.<\/p>\n

Elections matter. In Illinois that\u2019s crystal clear by now. April 9, in Naperville township we should be free from Citizens United monster money, Electoral College tinkering, and the various forms of voter suppression. All we have to overcome is the public\u2019s tendency to not bother.<\/div>\n

City Councils and school boards and township officials are your local government, they are all on this ballot, and, in my view, are enough reason to motivate you to not only vote, but to bring your neighbors and friends and precinct with you. Please support this retired guy\u2019s return to public service.<\/div>\n
