\u201cShall the Road District of Naperville Township be abolished with all the rights, powers, duties, assets, property, liabilities, obligations, and responsibilities being assumed by Naperville Township?\u201d <\/strong> <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Here are 10 reasons to vote “YES” on the referendum on April 2: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. To maintain complete control of the Naperville Township Road District and assets by the elected Naperville Township Elected Officials.<\/li>
  2. To avoid a 50% tax increase<\/strong> to the Naperville Township Road District\u2019s tax levy if the scheduled consolidation with Lisle Township takes effect in 2021. <\/li>
  3. Lisle Township residents would receive a 22%<\/strong> decrease<\/strong> in the combined Road District tax levy under the scheduled consolidation while the Naperville Township tax levy would increase<\/strong>. <\/strong><\/li>
  4. To assure that the five elected Naperville Township Officials will maintain the excellent Naperville Township road services. <\/li>
  5. The April 2nd<\/sup> referendum gives Naperville Township residents the opportunity to decide the fate of the Naperville Township Road District. <\/li>
  6. A YES <\/strong>vote to the referendum means the Naperville Township Road District will be consolidated into Naperville Township as a department. <\/li>
  7. All the Naperville Township assets and tax dollars will remain in Naperville Township. <\/li>
  8. A NO<\/strong> vote means Lisle\/Naperville Township Roads will consolidate and elected official members on the combined board will decide the governance of the Naperville Township Road district with a four-member governing board. <\/li>
  9. Currently Naperville Township Road district has no debt with millions of tax dollars in assets; what debts and obligations will be assumed from the Lisle Township Road district if the merger occurs in 2021? <\/li>
  10. A YES vote means that Naperville Township Road District remains within Naperville Township.<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The current Naperville Township elected officials have reduced the 2019-2020 Naperville Town tax levy by $200,000. There is a strong possibility that the future Naperville Township Road District tax levy will continue to be reduced in future years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Public Act 100-0106 (New Law) effective January 1, 2018 allows Naperville Township to place this question on the ballot in a general or municipal election.\u00a0 The April 2017 municipal election passed a binding referendum to consolidate the Naperville Township Road District with the Lisle Township Road District into one new Road District. Public Act 100-0106 was passed after the 2017 Municipal election where the Lisle\/Naperville Road District consolidation passed. \u00a0Passing this referendum allows Naperville Township Road District to step away from the 2017 consolidation referendum.<\/p>\n
