The public is invited to the next Community Forum of the Naperville Township Democratic Organization to be held at 7:30 PM on Thursday, September 26th<\/sup> at the City of Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle Street, in Meeting Rooms B & C on the lower level.<\/p>\n

We will hear from Congressman Bill Foster<\/a>, followed by a presentation from Naperville attorney Shawn Collins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"Shawn is a lawyer for the people against the corporations and governments that often mistreat them.<\/p>\n

Shawn Collins and his ten member law firm has fought for over twenty years for justice and a \u201cday\u00a0in court\u201d for those who badly need a lawyer, but often can\u2019t afford one.<\/p>\n

For example, Shawn has:<\/p>\n

* successfully argued to the Illinois Supreme Court for the rights of citizens to obtain information from their government;
\n* won the dismissal of serious criminal charges which had been brought against DuPage County residents for protesting the Iraq War on a public road;
\n* sued to enforce the civil rights of the developmentally disabled, when the State of Illinois refused to fund their medical care; and
\n* on behalf of over 20,000 citizens, won federal court orders mandating that corporate polluters clean up the water supplies and neighborhoods that they had contaminated.<\/p>\n

For his legal work, Shawn has been recognized as a \u201cTop 100 Trial Lawyer\u201d since 2008 by the American Trial Lawyers Association, in addition to receiving many other awards and recognitions from his peers.
