Dr. Washington is a member of the State of Illinois Commission on Environmental Justice<\/a>\u00a0and Greg Hubert, Naperville Township resident, is a volunteer with the Citizens\u2019 Climate Lobby<\/a>, which is advocating for a \u201cCarbon Fee and Dividend\u201d proposal with all revenues distributed back to people.<\/span><\/p>\n

From a recent <\/a><\/span>World Bank<\/span><\/i><\/a> publication<\/a>, unless efforts are made to rein in carbon emissions, to upgrade flood defenses, and to promote more heat-tolerant crops, \u201cclimate change could result in an additional 100 million people living in extreme poverty by 2030.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
