RE:      Clinton Campaign Update

A lot has happened with the campaign, and we wanted to update you on those developments, as well as some exciting upcoming events and opportunities:

JAN’S RALLY FOR HILLARY A TERRIFIC SUCCESS:  Neither the Bears game nor a beautiful sunny day kept hundreds of supporters from the rally organized by Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky last Sunday at Studio Paris in Chicago.

Joining Jan were Congresswoman Robin Kelly, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.  Also presenting were Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, Committeewoman and former State Senator Carol Ronen, State Senator Heather Steans, State Senator Jacqueline Collins, State Representative Sara Feigenholtz, State Representative Laura Fine, State Representative Mary Flowers, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Debra Shore, Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer, Cook County Recorder of Deeds Karen Yarbrough, and Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering. Men were also well represented at the event by Illinois House Deputy Majority Leader Lou Lang, State Treasurer Mike Frerichs, State Senator Daniel Biss, Alderman Joe Moore, and New Trier Township Committeeman Dean Maragos.

A highlight of the event was the introduction of Betsy Ebeling and other friends of Hillary’s dating back to her days in elementary school in Park Ridge.  You can view some great photos of the event at Jim Livesey’s Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/jim.livesey.16/media_set?set=a.10204565679771295&type=3&pnref=story.

JOHN PODESTA IN CHICAGO ON SEPTEMBER 28TH:  Hillary for America Campaign Chairman, John Podesta, will be in Chicago on Monday, September 28th. The event will be a great opportunity to speak with John and hear about the goals of the campaign as we close in on the early primaries. Tickets are only $100. To order, go to https://www.hillaryclinton.com/ticketed-events/conversation-podesta-sep-28/.  You’ll also find an invitation attached to this email.

DEADLINE TO APPLY TO BE A DELEGATE IS OCTOBER 2:  If you have not already applied to be a Clinton delegate, please submit your application ASAP to meet the deadline, which is Friday, October 2nd. You can find an application and other information at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Fx4yu2svMT2Hh6auUBYOgAfTvfFwsPTNzDtXu2aYVOE/viewform?c=0&w=1.

WEEKLY TRIPS TO IOWA:  Weekly trips to Iowa for canvassing are underway.  Carpools leave each Saturday from downtown Chicago (we need more drivers). We are also looking to identify points of contact in Peoria, Springfield, Rockford, and Moline (Quad Cities) to coordinate other carpools to help out in Iowa. For more information, contact Christina Granfield at HRCillinoistoIowa@gmail.com or 1-847-863-8519.

HOST A DEBATE PARTY ON OCTOBER 13TH:  The first Democratic debate is on October 13th, just three weeks away, and we thought you might be interested in hosting a Debate Party. It’s easy to do, a lot of fun — and it will mean the world to Hillary to know that her supporters are watching and cheering her on. And if that weren’t reason enough, it’s also a great way to make our team bigger and stronger by introducing your friends and family to what organizing really is.

All you have to do is sign up at https://www.hillaryclinton.com/host-a-debate-watch-party/ and invite a handful of people over, then we’ll take care of the rest. Keep your eyes peeled for the materials we’re putting together for hosts, including an invite to a conference call to talk strategy with our team.

CLINTON STEALS THE SHOW AT NEW HAMPSHIRE DEMOCRATIC PARTY STATE CONVENTION:  Last Saturday, Hillary delivered a rousing speech at the New Hampshire Democratic Party State Convention that you’ll not want to miss. You can watch it here:  http://www.c-span.org/video/?328108-2/new-hampshire-democratic-party-convention-hillary-clinton-remarks.

JEFFERSON JACKSON DINNER OCTOBER 24:  The annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner hosted by the Iowa Democratic Party has become one of the major political events of the season. This year’s dinner will be on Saturday, October 24th, in Des Moines, and a number of our folks plan on attending. Tickets are going fast.  Get yours at https://services.myngp.com/ngponlineservices/event.aspx?Y=FrZ0S4jyDpV6%2BJfoD484gaLiUYctHwcQWk9dSv5pxIgGxA4%2BA2nO4w%3D%3D.
