Anti-Foster Attack Ads Begin
…from Bill Foster the other day:
Steve-
There comes a point in every election where I just have to ask my family to stop watching TV.
Earlier this week, my opponent went up on TV with a typically deceitful Republican attack ad, carefully phrased to sound plausible to swing voters but dead wrong in details, artfully misstating my voting record in an attempt to hide her own.
Can you make a contribution today to help us respond?
My opponent could have talked about her own record: vowing to repeal Obamacare and replace it with nothing, taking the “Grover Norquist pledge” never to compromise to fix our debt, supporting clinic-closing and mandatory ultrasound bills in Springfield, earning a lifetime “A-“ rating from the NRA – the list goes on.
About the only honest thing in her TV ad was that she attacked me for voting against Rep. Paul Ryan’s Medicare Voucher plan – a plan that would force thousands of dollars of additional annual costs onto our seniors (although her TV ad didn’t mention that…).
Can you make a contribution to help us combat the Republican deceit?
In the 2010 Tea Party wave, I lost my reelection in the face of these same attacks. I have often wondered if it would have made a difference if we had responded more directly and forcefully to this kind of nonsense.
In this year’s mid-term elections, it will be more important than ever to make sure that we are able to communicate the truth to voters. We can’t let the Republicans control the message. In this election, we are going to respond.
Can you make a contribution to make sure we’re able to respond in force?
Thank you for all that you do. It truly makes a difference, and means a lot – both to my family and to me.
–Bill
