Please attend the next community forum of the Naperville Township Democratic Organization to be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 28th, at the City of Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle Street, in Meeting Room A on the lower level.

We will hear a two part presentation on climate change: Dr. Sylvia Hood Washington, “Climate Justice: Global to Local”, followed by Greg Hubert, “Citizen’s Climate Lobby: Political Will for a Livable Planet”.

Dr. Washington is a member of the State of Illinois Commission on Environmental Justice and Greg Hubert, Naperville Township resident, is a volunteer with the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, which is advocating for a “Carbon Fee and Dividend” proposal with all revenues distributed back to people.

From a recent World Bank publication, unless efforts are made to rein in carbon emissions, to upgrade flood defenses, and to promote more heat-tolerant crops, “climate change could result in an additional 100 million people living in extreme poverty by 2030.”
