Solidarity Event with Sikh Community
We learned of this event via our friend, Reverend Doctor Lynn Pries, President of the Naperville Interfaith Leaders Association, who writes:
I invite you to participate in a solidarity event in support of the Sikh community after one of their members was assaulted in Darien by a young man who taunted him and among other words, called out, “Terrorist, go back to your country, Bin Laden!” A more complete account is found on the following link:

On Monday afternoon, Robert Berlin, the DuPage County States Attorney has initiated a hate crimes investigation of the incident and the suspect, a juvenile, has been charged with a hate crime.
The Solidarity Event will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 20 at the Naperville Islamic Center, 2844 W. Ogden Ave., Naperville, IL 60540. Bernie Newman,Congregation Beth Shalom; Tom Cordaro, Mary Margaret Catholic Church, Rev. Greg Skiba, Hope United Church of Christ; Rev. Tom Capo, DuPage Unitarian/Universalist Church and Rev. Dr. Lynn Pries, President of the Naperville Interfaith Leaders Association, will affirm our solidarity with the Sikh community and speak about the values of the Naperville religious community that rejects bigotry and promotes respect for all persons. The event is jointly sponsored by the Naperville Islamic Center, the Sikh Coalition, and the Naperville Interfaith Leaders Association.
Special Guests will include: Representative Bill Foster,State Representative Linda Chapa La Via, and DuPage County Board Member Tony Michelassi.
