Invitation to “Mosque Alert” On Stage
You’ll recall that our friends from Silk Road Rising have been giving us an inside glimpse at the development of their challenging “Mosque Alert” play over the last 9 months. In May of last year they introduced us to some characters in a 20-minute video presentation, and in October they shared a read-through of the script, presented by students at North Central College (my wife and I went – wonderful evening!).
The play is now ready for stage presentation and out of gratitude for our encouragement along the way, Malik has invited NTDO members to enjoy it at a generous discount. Here’s a (lightly edited) email Malik sent to me and Dianne last week.
Good morning Dianne and Steve,
Well, I can’t believe it but it’s true: “Mosque Alert,” the stage play, will begin performances in about two weeks! I want to thank you and everyone at Naperville Democrats for their feedback as we were developing the play; and, much gratitude to Steve for also attending the staged reading at North Central College (the play has changed since then as a result of audience feedback). … An invitation is attached (we run for 6 weeks). …
“Mosque Alert” will perform at Silk Road Rising in downtown Chicago (77 W Washington St, Lower Level, Chicago, IL 60602) from March 24th thru May 1st. Performance times are:
- Thursdays at 7:30pm
- Fridays at 8pm
- Saturdays at 4pm
- Sundays at 4pm
I’m hoping members of Naperville Democrats will come support the show. I’d like to offer a $10 discount per regular ticket (use discount code <check with Steve for the code> when buying tickets online at www.mosquealert.org). Additionally, we offer $8 parking near our theatre for those driving (3 blocks west of us at Self Park).
Your ticket rate for previews (March 24th thru April 1st) will be $15 ($25 per ticket to the general public). Your ticket rates for regular run (April 2nd thru May 1st) will be $25 per ticket ($35 per ticket to the general public). Student tickets are $12.50 for previews and $15 for the run (Steve, it would be great if you could bring your kids!).
Our intimate theatre seats 80. Due to its small size, we don’t hold tickets. I would appreciate you encouraging NTDO members to buy tickets as soon as possible (visit www.
mosquealert.org to purchase tickets; when buying, enter discount code <check with Steve for the code> to receive $10 discount per ticket – this discount is deeper than our group sales discount). There are no fees to buy online. To learn more (directions, parking, etc), just visit our play website: www.mosquealert.org
Thank you for helping us spread the word; excited to host you at the theatre.
Best,
Malik
