Paul Mandrik, Candidate for Naperville Township Highway Commissioner
The NTDO has offered candidates in the April 9 Municipal Elections an opportunity to address our readership. Paul Mandrik, candidate for Highway Commissioner in Naperville Township, offers these thoughts:
My name is Paul Mandrik, and I am running as your Democratic candidate for the office of Highway Commissioner of Naperville Township. My goal is to provide excellent and efficient roadway service to the residents of Naperville and Aurora.
I’ve been an Aurora resident since 1994 and a homeowner since 1997. My involvement within the community includes serving as: Democratic Precinct 52 Committeeman of Naperville Township, 3-time Vice President of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Local 4290, Secretary of the Fox River Radio League, Co-Chair of Brockton Court Aurora Summertime Block Party, and member of the Georgetown (Aurora) Relief Efforts Neighborhood Organization (GRENO).
I am uniquely qualified to hold the position of Highway Commissioner. As a graduate of American Gas/Diesel Institute, I hold current Automotive/Diesel certifications as an ASE Master Auto Technician with Advance Engine performance. My mechanical expertise will be essential to the service and maintenance of the Township’s roadway vehicles which are used for the following services: blacktop patching and sealing, roadside mowing, street sweeping, leaf and brush removal, mulching, snow plowing, and salt spreading.
Having attended the College of DuPage for Business Management, I am a small business owner of an auto repair shop which has served the Naperville area for the past 10 years.
I also manage multiple family-owned rental properties.
My top goals as Highway Commissioner are:
- Creating a budget that fits within the current economic times by eliminating wasteful spending. One example is that current equipment maintenance and repairs are being outsourced rather than utilizing qualified, internal personnel.
- Publicizing current and useful highway information on the Naperville Township website. This is where you as a taxpayer should be able to go to find out where and how your money is being spent.
- Being an active and responsible member of the Township’s leadership team. Having a board that is willing to work together to come up with and implement solutions is more productive than a board bickering and fighting with each other, and resolving nothing.
The motto for our campaign this election is: A.C.T. Accountability-Communication-Transparency.
This is how I plan on running my campaign! So we must ACT now for Election Day April 9!
Thank you so much for coming forward, showing your support and coming out to vote. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you in person in the weeks ahead.
Thank You
Paul Mandrik
