Thanks as always to NTDO Chair Dianne McGuire for this enthusiastic write-up.  (BTW, there are more photos from the event on our Flickr Photostream, here.)

Candidates for public office all know the drill:  fundraise, voter contact, fundraise, know the issues, fundraise, attendance at governmental meetings, fundraise…and so it goes!  Getting off to a great start on this journey on January 13th at the home of White Eagle residents, Marina Reznitskaya and Ramin Mikaili, was Paul Mandrik, candidate for City of Aurora’s  8th Ward Alderman.  Paul was joined by supporters, including many who have held public office in the past, are currently in office, or have been candidates themselves.

Guests celebrated a very early Fat Tuesday and enjoyed spicy jambalaya, honey sweetened cornbread, and even a King Cake, made by Rose Johnson, Democratic Precinct 20 Committeewoman. Democratic Precinct 8 Committeeman, Max Bochmann, was lucky enough to find the little plastic baby baked into the cake which, according to tradition, means that Max will be holding next year’s Fat Tuesday’s celebration!   Zydeco music kept the guests entertained!  Even though the temperature outside was registering a shivery 12 degrees, inside it was hot and spicy!

As Paul addressed his guests, he mentioned several issues of concern that have been communicated to him already and he is committed to reaching out to the voters of Ward 8 to gather even more information and input as he campaigns. Paul is a twenty year resident of Ward 8, has been actively involved with his neighborhood associations, has been a small business owner and is committed to improving the quality of life for the residents he hopes to represent and serve in the City of Aurora’s  8th  Ward.

UPDATE, 1/19: We especially want to thank and recognize the three “sponsors” of Paul’s fundraiser:

  • Journeyman – $300 Level: Myra Mandrik
  • Apprentice – $200 Level: Mac Bochmann
  • Skilled Labor – $100 Level: Jay Mitchell

Thank you so much to everyone who helped out!
