Twas the NTDO Night Before Christmas
Those of you who were with us at last week’s Holiday Party will remember Julie’s reading of the poem, a sort of send-up of the traditional Twas the Night Before Christmas, adapted to our experience over the year. Here’s the text. Enjoy!

‘Twas a party at Mullens, with midterms next year,
With candidates chosen, for the jobs we hold dear.
Each petition is signed and notarized with care
So challenges would fail; let them try if they dare.
The tea party’s been strong, we’ve all felt the dread,
We all longed that change, be in each voter’s head.
The lock on the Township, we twice tried to crack,
A tough race to win, it’s easier to frack!
We had Steve, Richea, Ron, Rose, and Max,
With Bob and with Paul, all spreading the facts.
The Naperville Council was the aim of Bill Habel,
And Ed for Trustee, both willing and able.
We in DuPage are the winners, because all of you ran,
How can we thank you? We can try, yes we can.
The outcome was brighter on some races that day,
Michelassi reelected, ahead of the fray.
And Stephanie Kifowit to the State House she went,
Bill Foster a winner, to D.C. he was sent.
One race at a time, is all we can do.
For red turns to purple, from purple to blue.
With heads all held high, only forward we move,
We’re not losing you know, we’re just finding our groove.
We are labor, we are teachers, we are professional and proud,
We are liberal, we are progressive, we are principled and loud.
So you’ll hear us exclaim, “We won’t give up the fight!”,
Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good night.
