Why the Democratic Party

So, just what does the Democratic Party stand for?  In looking over the Party’s Platform, adopted at the national convention in August of 2012:

We believe that every American, whatever their background or station in life, should have the chance to get a good education, to work at a good job with good wages, to raise and provide for a family, to live in a safe community, and to retire with dignity and security.

We believe that quality and affordable health care is a basic right.

We believe that each succeeding generation should have the opportunity, through hard work, service, and sacrifice, to enjoy a brighter future than the last. We believe that you create an economy built to last from the middle out, not the top down. We know that America prospers when we’re all in it together.  We believe in a fair tax code that helps to create American jobs and bring down debt in a balanced way.

We believe that our country is continually made stronger by the greatest diversity of talent and ingenuity in the world; we are the Party of inclusion and fairness.

We have made significant progress on a number of these fronts by electing men and women who will support these goals, including the winning 2012 margins for President Obama, Congressman Bill Foster, State Senator Linda Holmes, State Representative Stephanie Kifowit, and DuPage County Board member, Tony Michelassi, but more remains to be done.  Please consider joining with us to help elect great candidates and to continue the journey toward a brighter future for all Americans, starting right here at home!
